Cute and Cuddly

I had fun making this card with the Imaginisce Polar Expressions collection. The rub ons are the perfect size for 6x6 cards and the little felt polar bear was a super cute design element.

Hope all of your holiday preparations are shaping up. We are getting ready to haul the whole family back east. Doing the holidays east coast style. Oh no... I think I''ll need to leave my Keenes at home and dust off my leather jacket - hee, hee.

Sunday Sketch, December 13th

This sketch is an idea for using some of the patterned paper strips that are popular right now.

I created this layout with the October Afternoon Good Cheer collection. I cut up some of the strips on the patterned papers and used them as a simple design element. I also love the ease of my Martha Stewart snowflake punch.

Bead Ornament

Looking for another idea on what to do with clear glass ball ornaments? Buy some inexpensive, sparkly plastic beads. They will catch a lot of light and create a beautiful glow on your Christmas tree. I found this cute little felt embellishment from the Making Memories Tinsel collection exclusively at Target and tied it on with a little bit of sheer ribbon from Offray.

Babes in Toyland

These are my two amazing kids snuggled together. My son gets such a kick out of how big his sister's bed is. This is also a project I created for the My Creative Scrapbook December Main Kit. The snowflakes on the My Little Yellow Bicycle paper are so beautiful and I did not want to cover them up, so I created a lot of negative/white space by keeping my design tight and centered. However, despite the smaller space, I still added a lot of embellishment to the layout. The Journaling says, "Sugar plums danced in their heads." I am also hosting a sketch challenge at MCS this month based on this layout. Please come by and check it out.

Simple Rose Ornament

This elegant little ornament is simply and easy to make. First find your favorite type of artificial flower in a medium size. I found these roses at Walmart for less than a buck.

Next carefully twist the bloom into a clear glass ornament ball.

Then, add a round holiday tag sticker that has been backed with cardstock. This one is from Pebbles Inc.

Finally, tie (or glue) on some ribbon.

Card with Buttons

This just a fun little card for our Pebbles team challenge this week. I used the Season's Greeting collection cardstock stickers and my 1 1/2 inch circle punch to make the little ornaments. Then I added some clear buttons at the source of the string for a little extra interest. I saw that the Cards Blog had a button challenge and thought I might try my hand at using some. Please stop by and see what some other really creative card designers did with buttons.

Sticky Ornaments

This ornament is my altered idea for the My Creative Scrapbook main kit this month. The My Little Yellow Bicycle 25 Days of Christmas collections includes these beautiful clear stickers with poinsettias on them. So I bought a medium sized silver glass ball from Target and applied the clear stickers. Then I used one of the 25 Days of Christmas chipboard tags to decorate with a large, sheer wired ribbon.

Sunday Sketch, December 6th

It's REVEAL time at My Creative Scrapbook! Our main kit this month is loaded with goodies from My Little Yellow Bicycle's 25 Days of Christmas collection. The papers are beautifully colored and the embellishments are so much fun and perfect for all the little details. I used a few of the chipboard elements on this layout and I absolutely love the clear stickers, which I used for the title. Please come by and check out our Design Team gallery for more ideas and feel free to jump in the sketch challenge (different from this sketch) I host over there for a possible RAK.

The Elfkin

This is my all time favorite photo of my daughter as a baby. She had the perfect sized cheeks for pinching and I just love this expression on her face. Yes...I have scrapped this photo before, but...I think I have found the perfect papers this time with the Imaginisce collection called Polar Expressions. The line came with the perfect selection of patterns and colors to go with the 8x10 photo I cut to fit in the scalloped circle. I REALLY love the rub ons and was so tickled when the "Believe in the Magic" quote fit into the round journal tag. I think I can now safely retire this photo from scrapping...maybe. Be sure to visit the Imaginisce blog for other ideas using this collection.

Thank you for stopping by and please check back for another project tomorrow. - Liz

Seeing Stars

I had fun with this card! I made if for Mireille Divjak's STAR tip at the Pebbles Inc. Blog. I used two chipboard stars from Scenic Route and covered them with the Pebbles Inc. Metallic Chalk and the Season's Greeting Collection. Then I wrapped some string around the large star and added bling.

It is so sad that Scenic Route is closing its doors. They are currently liquidating all their inventory and I found these stars for $1.00. I would stop by their online store and pick up some of your favorite products before they are gone forever.

Simple and Sweet

If all I had to worry about was finding the perfect party dress for the holidays, I think I would feel just like Audrey Hepburn and have so much more fun. But alas, there is all the shopping, traveling, decorating and eating that must go on, and so this card is just my little way to remind my friends to think about the little things and not get too bogged down in all the "to do" lists. I made the card with some of the beautiful Eskimo Kisses papers from Basic Grey. BTW - that is REAL snow...December is really here.

To make the little party dress, I used stencils from the Klutz Fancy Paper Fashions book. You can find this at amazon.com for $15 - click here.

Thank you for stopping by today. I am going to try to post something everyday for the month of December. - Liz

The Perfect Storm

We had a really big snowstorm a few weeks ago and my son, who is 1 1/2 experienced what snow feels like for the first time. He was completely fascinated by the little white fluffy flakes and it was a good thing that I was following him around in Mama Paparazzi mode, because this photo is truly priceless. I used the Imaginisce Polar Expressions collection for the layout and created a sniglet for the title by replacing the word explore with expolar. Expolar is when you are exploring in polar conditions - hee, hee. My husband did not get it at all, but I'm hoping my fellow crafters will appreciate me taking the liberty.

Tuesday Mornings

I made this ornament with some inspiration from a fellow Colorado crafter named Amanda Probst. We had met up for a really fun day of crafting at the Treasure Box in Fort Collins and she gave each of the attendees a clear glass ornament to decorate. The group was going to vote on the most creative ornament at the end of the day, but alas...a severe storm watch had me heading back to the mountains a little early. But...this is what I came up with along with some directions and product ideas.

I used some Queen & Co Felt Fusion Ribbon in Floral Red to stuff into the ball. It was a whole yard of felt and I probably used about 6 inches. I wrapped the felt around the outside of the ball to measure and then carefully rolled it tight to push it into the ball. Then I used a pencil with a good eraser to help me unwind the felt and spread it back out. You can find this felt for less than $4 for a yard.
I also used one of the My Little Yellow Bicycle 25 Days of Christmas Epoxy Stickers for the tag. I backed it with cardstock and punched a little whole in it to tie with ribbon. You can find these stickers at sb.com for $2.99

Then I tied on some sheer green ribbon and voila - ready for an ornament exchange.
